Hi,

Ive just put deposit down on a L reg 2.8 LWB Exeed ,Auto Diesel . I Phoned L&V who told me that they would not insure the vehicle, I left it a few days and re-phoned one of the managers and she confirmed they do NOT insure this model at all. Any club members have any ideas as to what the problem is, anybody else had a problem with this Company and this model ??. They werent happy because it was automatic, im bl---- confused

You're confused... you should be. I've not heard of this before. Call back, tell them about this club and that it has been recommended to you. There are dozens of club members here with LV insurance, (but anyone with a LWB Exceed auto - stand forward anyone?).

Devattsar..............back in January you posted this

Quote:
I couldnt rest last night thnking about the conversation I had with a young girl from L&V (see my previous posting) I asked to speak to manager and went through the story with her.

She was VERY helpfull and knew what she was talking about, I am told there is no problem in insuring Imports at all and the girl was "probably" a trainee who didnt ask all relevant questions/search the computer properly

Spoke with the lady who quoted me lowest yet on 1994 Exceed LWB, £356 full comp £150 xs with my other half on as well. I was well satisfied with the quote,

I thought you had sorted this problem out with L&V Shocked

Yep your right Phil, thats why im bloody confused, I went to insure the Paj with L&V last week I had a reference number to quotefrom the original quote which I was more than happy with. I comfirmed with L&V ALL the original details, Make Model etc etc, the man said "sorry we dont insure this one its auto". I went through the previous call I had made but he wouldnt budge I mentioned the Club Members being insured with L&V BUT it didnt change there minds. , "The model you state is not on the computer" ?? I really couldnt be bothered in going through all the grief again. I left it a couple of days and asked to speak to one of the L&V managers. I was given EXACTLY the same response as the previous operator gave me. "We dont insure that model"

So yes I was bloody confused and still am, thats why i wanted to know IF any other member owning a AUTO 2.8 LWB EXCEED has obtained insurance for this model from L&V IN THE lAST COUPLE OF WEEKSAny replies gratefully recieved,

Cheers

I just noticed the post about this insurance company and their attitude to automatics. Yesterday (Monday 24/02/03) I called them and asked for a quote on exactly the type of vehicle which started this off. I hadn't read about any problems so I wasn't suprised when they gave me the best quote.

After reading it today I called them back to check that it had been put down as an automatic since the quote hadn't arrived. They told me that it was a problem and they would call me back.

The person I spoke to yesterday apologised and said after discussion with the chief underwriter the quote would stand but she had made a mistake because an automatic diesel was not on the system and could therefore not be quoted for. She also told me that they are tightening up on imports because they do not want them due to the high cost of repairs!

Needless to say I will be taking them up on it before they change their minds! When I asked if I would be allowed to renew next year they told me that existing customers would have no problems

I confirmed with the Chief Head Honcho at L&V who readily admitted that they dont want Pajero business. the Pajero Club of Great Britian should not and I quote " NOT recomend L&V as they never did want to be associotaed with the club" They will not do new business with Pajero owners, as to re-insuring next time around, dont be to sure, wait and see as to possible "policy changes"

I was not impressed, but having said that it made me make some other phone calls and found a Company that will insure me and the missus (exactly same cover as L&V ) £385 , Brilliant deal me thinks.

Cheers Everyone

Which company was that?

I have just been quoted £500 with L&V for a 2.5td Exceed LWB Auto they said nothing to me about not being able to do automatics, I was happy with this quote as Direct"thieving"line want £800 for my renewal. Still waiting on Bradgate to quote me before i decide.

OK, I know how much I've pushed Bradgate on the site, but I have a confession ... I worked in IT at Frizzell (now Liverpool Victoria) for 9 years and had my motor insurance with them all that time ... I left about five years ago but kept my insurance with them, basically because they're so reliable and such good value for money ...

LV were the first we approached when we bought our 2.5 TDi lwb AUTO two years ago and the policy management has been hitch-free.

I'm amazed to hear of anybody having trouble with LV, although they're (in)famous for 'cherry-picking' - offering the best policy deals to clients fitting their desired criteria!

I see from their 'quick quote' system that the 2.5 Auto is listed, but not the 2.8 Auto ... (the 2.8 manual is there) ... I'm sure it's an admin error ... I would keep badgering them - 40-60,000 owners in the UK - it's not an insignificant slice of the auto market! I see they also cover the Shogun 2.8 auto!

Remember - if you have a legal right to drive, you have a legal right to insurance - no motor insurer is allowed to refuse you cover, (although some will make the price unacceptably high to try to deter you!)

Simon.

Having just put a deposit down on a 2.8 Pajero Exceed, then having found this site BEFORE getting insurance sorted, I was starting to panic! Rolling Eyes

Anyway, on Wednesday this week (26/2/03) I rang LV to check how much it would cost to transfer my Scooby (another grey import) insurance to the Paj, and they gave me a quote, no probs!!!!

Admittedly, higher than alot of you are quoting, but all in all, not too bad!

The thing is, LV quoted with no problems! Maybe it was because I was transferring insurance from one car to another - who knows! Smile

Just letting you know as requested! (It probably depends on who you speak to there!)

I've just spent 2 days getting quotes for a 92 2.5 TDI Exceed Automatic.
I've been with NFU for 6 years and they refused to insure it quoting "We don't insure Pajeros full stop" I pointed out to them that they are primarily a rural insurer and I though they were mad. They agreed.

I needed FC insurance for me and the wife who has 2 x SP30 convictions.

Moving on I tried Tesco who came it at £498 with a £170 Excess.
Bathgate came in at £470.
Motor Quote (S Wales) came in at £530
But the winners were L&V who came in at £380 !!! I nearly bit their hands off.

The Paj is all standard except for a CAT 1 Thatcham.

I'm well happy with their service so far. All I needed to give them was the chassi number because it hasn't been registered yet.

Job Done.

I've put a deposit on a Pajero Super Exceed with JC Imports, mentioned to John about insurance and he advised L&V, I called today to be told that they are 'Pajero Specialists', the operator took my details and arranged cover within 5 minutes!

I was going to change over my insurance from my previous car till it runs out in October but with the amount I was saving it didn't seem worth it, around £230 cheaper than Direct Line wanted.

Don't know who the operator was you talked to was but mine was great, he quoted a 2.8TD Auto Exceed L reg no problem.

Didn't ask about an alarm or immobiliser either? I'm going to fit one anyway, but Direct Line wouldn't insure without one!

What the hell is going on with this company Evil or Very Mad . We reccomend all our customers to contact LV for insurance on Pajero's and numerous other imported vehicles. Up untill now almost without excetion they have been given a competitive quote but in the last 3 days I have recieved calls from 2 customers who have been told the following

1. Sorry we don't insure automatic pajero's

2. Sorry we can't insure your Pajero because it does not say "TD" (Turbo Diesel) on the reg doc.

Yes thats right you did read that correctly. What the hell is all that about. To say I'm a little confused is an understatement

If this firm doesn't want Pajero business, then let them say so. They have undoubtedly picked up dozens of customers on our recomendation over the last 6 months but no more!.

As of tomorrow I will be crossing them off our list of insurers and shall be advising my customers to contact Tesco.

I just took out a policy with L V today as they were by far the cheapest and offered a far better service than any of the others, that and the fact they were £300 cheaper than directline and approx £100 cheaper than tesco and Bradgate.
I gave them full details about my PJ also. 2.5td Exceed auto.

As I said earlier, the quote was lots cheaper than others.

After reading the above, I made sure I read back the full spec to the operator and checked that we where talking about a 2.8TD Exceed AUTO L Reg, he confirmed this, I even have it on Tape as I rang from work and all calls are recorded so if they try to renage I'll send them a copy!
