I've just got the 'upper' tail lights working on a 2012 Shogun SG3 - the wiring is all there all you have to do is cut and join... It took about 20 minutes to do both sides, even allowing for correcting the bodged wiring from the removal of the strobes by Lex after it was defleeted (putting those back in is next on the list!!).

So if anyone is planning this, let me know and I've got pictures that will help.... Pics of the before and after (external) are on Facebook.

Phil

That is a big improvement - makes you wonder why Mitsy didn't supply them like that.

Hi mitsy do supply them like that, it's UK regulations that insists they are altered when they arrive in this country, basically uk law says you cannot have the upper lights obscured by the spare wheel when the back door is in the open position, so they disconnect them and fit lens clusters into the bumper, I changed mine back to original years ago, much nicer and safer.

anyone know if it's same case of just hooking the wires up on the 2007??

wiring pics would be awesome so i can have a dig around before committing as i dont have FB

i need to do this, a couple of times people have mentioned they can't always see the lights in the bumper, also thinking about adding extra indicators in there too

Hi it's a straight forward mod,
remove near side cluster, 2 screws
Unravel black insulting tape mitsy wrapped cut wire in
Tease out the green and white wire
Add another length of wire that reaches the loom multi plug
Join it up to appropriate wire in loom

Use heat shrink, NEVER scotch clips, job done

Repeat drivers side but wire is green, keep rear door closed when removing lens cluster.

Hope this helps

In response to the request for pictures, I haven't got any of the finished item, but I used a crimp plug and socket and taped over when plugged in with insulating tape, at least I can take it apart if I need to remove the cluster.

Here are the pics of the wiring as is:

Its basically a case of cutting the green and orange wire, which is furthest to the right at the top (this is the left hand side cluster as you look at it from the back), and crimping a connector on unless you can track down the original plugs. My Shogun had already had the wiring messed with when it was converted to Highways Agency by Mitsi Specialist Vehicles. I've now got a hole in the light cluster where the strobe lights were put, and random wires all over the place!!

Hope this helps...
Phil

You have to reconnect one cable each side which has been left loose in the lamp loom.

You didn't have to tap into the bumper lights on a mk3, all the feeds are there behind the lamps.  Easiest way is to use swb mk4 lamps on swb/lwb mk3s.

Hi.

Is it possible to have the pictures of what to do to get these lights working. I am probably the least technical/handyman person around so in simple terms if possible. Or if someone can point me to a thread where this is shown in detail that would be great.

Thanks folks.

I understand that the last reply in this topic was many years ago but I need some help.
How many posts I have to write in order to add a full post with bbcode to imgur photos?
Without it it is really hard to explain the whole issue ?
