Having read numerous helpful topics on here about the alarms fitted to UK Shoguns, I came across a post that mentioned a simple reset for the system that I'd like to try, but I can't find the "socket" mentioned in that post and wondered if someone had a helpful picture perhaps?

Extract from original post:
"I have a kidney shaped keyfob and also a smaller straight shaped unit...... I put this second straight key into the socket fitment located close to the fuel cap release. It looks like a socket with two concentric circles"

I've looked for this in the location suggested but although I can see something similar, it is not a "socket" - the slim straight unit does not slot into it so I must be missing something! Do I need to remove the 'face plate' this is on? It sits just above the fuel release.

If it matters the reason I want to do this is after the battery going flat I have an intermittent problem where the exciter wire connected to the starter motor goes dead. Two people have mentioned the alarm as a potential cause, so I thought a system reset might be a quick thing to try.

Many thanks

Device on the dash is for a touch key should you lose the remote, it is not a socket. Unless the vehicle has been modified the UK fitted Cobra is just an alarm, the factory immobiliser is a transponder in the main key fob.
Try starting in N, could be that the gearbox inhibitor switch is faulty or out of adjustment.

Gotcha, thanks very much. Try starting in N regardless or just if it’s not starting?
