|
|
Hi, i am a new member to this site and you come highly recommended to me so figures crossed some one can help.
My new shape L200 2.5 DI-D has developed an intermittent fault that is beginning to get very annoying. When i start it in the mornings i turn the key and wait for the worm to go out, i then wait for the relay to click off before turning it over to start. It turns over about 4 times then fires up and for about 6 seconds runs ok. Then it starts to misfire every now and then on tick over but when i try to rev it gets worse and loads of white smoke pours out of the exhaust and will only rev to 2000 rpm with your foot to the floor. if you switch it off then back on it makes no difference but eventually it will clear and if you keep the revs over 2000rpm it drives fine, if you let it drop below 2000 rpm then it suffers with no power to pull away and a nasty misfire. Once ive been driving it for about 5 mins it seems ok and pulls like a train with only a slight hesitation every now and then on pulling away or low rpm in each gear.
I mentioned that this was an intermittent fault in as far as the week before last for example it started and ran perfectly monday-tuesday then wednesday-friday the fault was there every morning and afternoon. Last week it ran fine monday-friday morning then friday afternoon the fault was back, saturday midday was ok, sunday midday was fine, this morning was a little bit spluttery but we had a hard frost.
I have run the fuel tank almost dry, that was scary, filled up from a different fuel station and added a bottle of wynns diesel cleaner and changed the fuel filter. Checked hoses and electrical connectors. Checked coolant levels in case it was headgasket.
When it has this fault the EML does not come on and i have checked for any fault codes and there are none, not even any pending faults.
I thought it might be a temperature related issue because the fault seems to dissapere when the engine warms up but then its intermittent so so it cant be ????????????
I really hope some one can throw some light on this problem for me.
All help will be greatly appreciated
Kind regards and thanks

Thanks jay1976. Beginning to think I was on my own with this. I've ordered a set of glow plugs today so will post how I get on with these. If you've still got those other links handy that would be great. |
