|
|
Had our caravan booked in for a service with the dealer we bought it from as we've almost had it a year now
I was also going to get an extended warranty as the warranty is due to expire soon
The service is £230+parts
The extended warranty is another £250+
I started to wonder is it really worth it considering the caravan insurance is due, storage and Paj road tax and MOT is all due at the same time
I'm not bothering with the warranty(it's a 2005 in mint cond so I don't expect to have to replace anything just yet)
I'm cancelling the service and getting it done at another repairer I used on our old ABI(same short mech service=£100)
Hopefully, this should save me nearly £500 |

The £100 service includes brakes, hitch running gear, bearings, wheels(all mechanical bits) and oiled/greased
I've used the guy before and he's great. A good job and a reasonable price.
Still under warranty until June so it'll be getting a good going over before to check for any faults

i would check the warranty paperwork to see whats covered before ditching it,the reason i say that we had an 04 elddis which was great untill we put in storage 3 months later when we used it again we discovered the end bathroom covered in mould and all the cabinets were swollen, took it to the dealer turned out a fitting had come loose and allowed water to leak when we used the shower, lucky the warranty paid for a complete new bathroom to be fitted,i was contemplating cancelling the warranty pleased i didn,t the same happened again 5 months later, but after that incident it was the dealers fault,so they had to repair it,then i got the finace compnay to take it back as damp had got into the floor and walls |

Ill be getting it checked out before the warranty ends.
Prob is, Id need to pay for the service to be able to take the extended warranty and theres too much up for
renewal at the same time.
At least the guy Im going to really knows his stuff and is fair on pricing |

Just make sure you have a gas test incl in the price and a monoxide sniff test whatever you decide.
Serviced a van last week and found monoxide coming through a screw hole in wardrobe on flue.
Also a damp test done properly |

Just found out what I get for the money.
It's extremely comprehensive so I'll go for it since it's the 1st service since we bought it |

Went to pay caravan storage and hook up van and mentioned to the people there about it.
They do servicing and their service is even more comprehensive and only £140
Needless to say....... |

hasn,t the law been changed now so every caravan has to have a gas and electric saftey certificate,i only ask as the other half,s sister was selling her,s and a fare few people have looked at it but because she doesn,t have the certificates they have all walked away,so i am making enquiries with a place i know to get it booked in,sometime
i can only presume this is another eu directive if it,s true |

Haven't heard that but, for peace of mind, it's worth the £140 each year |

Just as well we put it in for the service
Both tyres were split on the inside wall. They were the originals from new so can't really complain
That's it all done with a full gas and electric safety check and certificate ready to go |
