I'm almost afraid to ask, especially after trolling though pages and pages of info and not finding a definitive answer so here we go.
2004 Shogun 3.2 Did auto. I needed to use 4wd the other day, from a standstill selected 4wd with centre diff lock, all went in ok, all lights were as they should (solid green and orange) only drove around half mile in muddy boggy conditions at basically crawling speed, got back to tarmac surface, again at standstill pulled lever back into 2wd, green lights off, orange light flashing, shunted forward and backwards several times to no avail. drove home around 50mph for 15 or so miles with orange lamp flashing and no green lamps.
Now at home have done the following, checked vaccum lines, all good, removed and checked solenoids, all good and working, checked front diff actuator, all moving freely, listened at transfer box with ign on and off can here the actuater whirring.
Issues that dont make sense are, solenoid wires (both wires to both solenoids are live) and now when you move the selector lever it doesn't select 4wd.
I was thinking perhaps sensors on transfer box (have ordered new) or possibly ECU.
Your thoughts please |

Sensor/actuator problem I suspect. I'm not qualified to suggest how to fix it, however I will share that it's a good idea to go through the sequence every so often (a fortnight or so) - 2H - 4H - 4L - 4LC - 4l - 4H - 2H. This gives the actuators some exercise and keeps them working OK. |
